Buying jeans online can feel daunting. But there are really THREE things to focus on: Length, Rise and Shape.
We only carry jeans that are tummy/fupa friendly and have HONEST fit advice on each pair.
Even if it means saying "xyz body shape may want to skip this pair"
Identify what size you are in normal pants in a regular department store like Old Navy/Gap/AE/Target/Walmart:
TAKE YOUR EVEN STORE SIZE IN ANY PANTS THAT ARE FITTED WITH SOME STRETCH AND YOU'LL SIZE DOWN ONE.
For true plus store sizing like Torrid/Lane Bryant:
STAY IN YOUR NORMAL PLUS STORE SIZE AS YOUR BASE SIZE.
Each pair will have a fit video and written sizing advice as some are true to size (even size minus one for everyone but torrid/lb ladies).
AND OTHERS YOU MAY NEED TO SIZE DOWN ONE ADDITIONAL IN.
AND EVERY ONCE in a while like on our corduroy jeans we may have instructions to size up.
NEXT: INSEAM/LENGTH ->
Length is the number one email we get.
There should NEVER be "these were longer than expected" when shopping for jeans because it's just a measurement in inches on your personal frame.
Growing up, many brands encouraged measuring the length aka inseam on the outside of your legs which isn't super helpful.
Our denim is measured from crotch to ankle for best inseam/length on most styles.
For styles you want to hit closer to the floor like bootcut, flares and trousers, measure your inside leg inseam crotch to the ground.
Ashley in pictures is 5'8 with a 30 inch inseam crotch to ankle and 32 inches crotch to the ground.
Rise is somewhat of an opinion so we prefer to measure in inches.
Measure from your crotch around the tummy to where you want the top of the waist band to hit on your body.
Most of our denim is 10.5 inch mid rise to 12 inch high rise.
Measuring in inches is important because mid rise is different at each store.
In our opinion
9 - 9.5 inches = lower mid rise
10 - 10.5 inches = mid rise
11 inches = lower high rise
11.5-12+ inches = high rise

After rise, inseam and knowing your store size, the next step is body shape.
This step can be considered optional to many,
but if you have proper expectations for how denim will fit your body shape it can help how you FEEL in denim.
Apple & Upside Down pear shapes:
If you’re tummy/hip heavy and have smaller legs, then finding pants in general that YOU feel comfortable with is key. This shape usually finds that jeans or pants in general are baggy below the butt / thigh area due to having smaller legs.
Some of our apple and pear shape ladies ONLY feel comfortable in what google tells them they should wear
aka bootcut jeans, fit and flare jeans and straight leg jeans.
However, over time as our customers become more comfortable in their own skin,
we find that many gravitate toward SKINNY or Relaxed fit jeans (roomy skinny jeans)
and choose to double cuff the bottom and pair with a lower profile shoe like a slip on sneaker, flat or sandal.
AVOID: Slim Fit jeans are a very wide leg that tapers in at the ankle.
Slim fit are often kryptonite for apple shapes as the name is deceiving.
For ladies who are rectangular shaped (tummy weight but more straight up and down), most jeans will be a great fit.
Usually a rise high enough to cover the area of your tummy you’re most concerned with will be ideal.
Hourglass or Pear Shapes:
For smaller hips or THICK legs all the way through, embracing them with a skinny or relaxed fit jean
or flattering the hips and having a straight silhouette on a wide leg or straight leg jean is a great look.
