Ash is a tummy heavy 16/17 in stores (normally a 15 in Judy Blue true to size jeans) wearing the 1X.  YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG sizing up in a pair of shorts though :-)

Judy Blue Shorts are comfy and stretchy.  But shorts have so much less fabric than full length/cropped jeans that it’s important especially for size 12-22 to follow your regular department store sizing.

Smaller leg body shape note: If you are mostly tummy weight with smaller legs aka an apple/upside down pear shape, then the leg openings of many shorts will be baggier.
